Laying of our Slab..............

Wednesday morning, 5.55am, lying in bed middle of a good dream and hear thump, thump, thunder, trundle, trundle down our road, and the whir of truck engines, eyes opened and sat up straight - wasn't sure if I was dreaming or not......but no there's that lovely sound of truck engines, our gate opening and blokes chit chat - pitch black, hammer, hammer, bang, bang. (Do not adjust your screen, that is a photo of the guys working in the dark...lol).

Yep you guessed it the cement guys turned up and boarded up the house pad - in the dark....hehe.

I've never showered and dressed so quickly, took a photo of them working in the dark, then slowly as the sun rose, cement truck after cement truck turned up, all lined up in the street (thankfully no neighbours needed to get past).

One poor guys cement truck broke down in the middle of the road....an hour past and the SOS call made and mechanics came, worked on the truck and eventually it zoomed into life again, long enough to back in (minus our fence post) and empty his load. But alas when he tried to start the truck again - nothing.....I did feel for the guy, I don't think he should've gotten out of bed that day.

Watching the progress of the cement going down, the glugging through the wet cement in their wellies, smoothing it off then using their little whirring machine to smooth it all over was fantastic.

THIS IS MY FAVOURITE PHOTO - the cement pouring out of the pipe!
Whilst watching all this I cleared out the laundry, washed down the walls and painted them in a new vibrant ochre colour ready for the delivery of the new washing machine.

The gerls pacing in their yard whilst the builders are doing their stuff.
Now the cement sits and cures for a few weeks before the real progress starts :O)

So until then, from out the back amongst the weeds
Millie xx
